Elephant Surgery with our Custom Anesthesia Ventilator

On February 17th & April 1st, 2007 a 14,000 lbs. male Asian elephant named Tusko at the Portland, Oregon Zoo underwent two surgeries to remove an infected left tusk. As of June, 1st, 2007 he is recovering well.

In August of 2008, Tusko became a father. At the Oregon Zoo an Asian elephant named Rose-Tu gave birth to a 286-pound male baby named Samudra. Samudra's father, Tusko arrived at the zoo on a breeding loan in 2005.

Mallard Medical, Inc. built a custom anesthesia ventilator for Mr. Tusko and participated in both surgeries.
